Third SFRA Risk Colloquium - Solvency II: Overcoming the Obstacles to Success

Background

The Colloquium provided insights and expert opinions on the challenges involved in implementing the new solvency regime for the European insurance industry. Through a number of technical and bigger picture sessions, the Colloquium:

  • Examined some of the fundamental technical issues faced by analysts and actuaries in implementing the new framework
  • Explored the choices are available to policymakers in key areas
  • Considered how technicians can influence outcomes, and the barriers they face
  • Discussed the business implications and management options for Solvency II
